"Children do not need to learn to be better, told what to do or shown how. If they are given access to enough of the world, they will see clearly enough what things are truly important to themselves and to others, and they will make for themselves a better path into that world than anyone else could make for them."  Mother/Daughter Date "In Home Makeover"

We experience a snag in our first mother/daughter date of the year plans. Dad has to work on Saturdays so he normally has someone come down and deliver his check, which he cashes and then puts money on the debit card for us girls to go out. Well, this week there was no one to deliver the check and so he would not be getting it until late in the evening when his jobs for the day were done. So, now what was I going to do? I thought for a few minutes and then it came to me, I was going to give my daughter an in home pampering session and makeover!

First, I had to set the mood.

I cleaned the bathrooms and lighted some candles:

I Got out some new body wash and lotions I had received for Christmas, as well as some of my daughter's make-up and nail polishes, and asked her to bring me her Ipod with her favorite music playing:

Then,  I ran her a warm bath with LOTS of delicious smelling bubbles, and left her to relax to the beats of "One Direction"! Hint: to maximize your bubbles after pouring under the faucet get down on your hands and knees and with both hands in tub vigourously shake the solution around! (my hubby learned this along time ago on the travel channel!)

After she had soaked in the tub for awhile and was out and dressed I blow dryed, brushed, and fixed her hair.  I then did her make-up ( just simple eyeshadow and lip stick). She absolutely loved being treated like a princess and was all smiles throught the entire process!

Last of all I took the lotion and rubbed down her arms, hands, legs, and feet before painting both her finger and toe nails a cute purple color that she had already picked out.

I put this together very quickly and last minute so I am sure there are other things you could do as well like serve your daughter an ice cream sundae or a mock cocktail in your wine glass. Such a simple idea but my daughter had so much fun and said this was one of our best dates ever!
