Today is one of those rather boring days I warned you guys about. I had a hard time sleeping last night and between that and the dreary cold weather it was hard to get moving. Dad went back to work today after 10 days off and I kind of had a hard time getting back into the swing of things. I got up with him at 6 and got caught up on some of my DVR shows and spent sometime online and drinking coffee while I waited on Dora to get up. When she did get up around 10, I watched "Good Luck Charlie" with her before getting caught up on some housework. She helped me clean the living room and then decided we should get moving.
We played EA Sports Active 2 for the Playstation 3, and let me tell you if you are the least bit out of shape that game will wear you out! You get to do fun things like dance steps, basketball shooting or boxing practice along with a few traditional exercises. 30 minutes and I was done!
After that Dora played some Little Big Planet 2 while I worked on the house. She has a few homeschooled friends on there that get on during the day and they message back and forth while they play.
Bubba and Bret got up around 1 and started playing Duel Monsters. I taught Bubba to play this game when he was 4 years old and the Yugioh cartoon came out so this has really been a life long obsession of his and Bret's.
My husband's cousin and soon to be wife came over for an unexpected visit and we had fun catching up on what was going on in there life. Bubba played Pokemon on his Nintendo 3DS and watched some You Tube videos on yugioh and things.Bret of course listened to music throughout the day and talked to some friends on Facebook. They tried to have a friend come over today but that didn't seem to work out.
We noticed the Rock Candy project from a few days ago was growing crystals but didn't seem to be sticking to the stick. Bret thought maybe it was because we didn't let the sugar solution completely cool so he re did the sugar on the sticks
For some reason Dora kept saying she wasn't hungry all day so we ended up eating an early dinner and she helped by making a meat loaf. While it was cooking we watched "The Way Way Back". A pretty good movie for older kids.
Dad just walked in the door as I was writing this and has the kids trying to help him unfreeze our cold water pipe that has been frozen all day long. So there you have it our very normal, somewhat boring unschool day.
This post is the third one in the year long series "Hitchhikers Guide to Unschooling", read more about it HERE.
