"Children do not need to learn to be better, told what to do or shown how. If they are given access to enough of the world, they will see clearly enough what things are truly important to themselves and to others, and they will make for themselves a better path into that world than anyone else could make for them." Today was one of those days when I couldn't tell you what the boys did! I know they played some Yugioh cards but they have mostly just hung out in their rooms like teenaged hermits!

Dora played on her ipod for awhile after she got up, she has an app that is kind of like Facebook's Farmtown.

After that she began her "fire experiments". Yes, you heard me right, fire! She had my candles down and asked me if candles are flammable or is it just the light thing (aka the wick). I told her I didn't know so she began catching skewers on fire and then dipping the lighted skewers into the melted candle wax. She showed me how using the three different candles I had that different ones were more flammable than the others. She also had me be quiet and listen to the sizzling sound that some of the candles made that was louder than the others. She has some other experimenting with fire ideas in mind so I have a feeling this is just the beginning of these experiments!

Here she is asking me if metal will catch on fire, when I told her no, she showed me it did. She had actually put the metal chain into the wax and caught that on fire. Quite the little illusionist!

Dora and Dad have been planning on a tree house of sorts to put in our backyard this Summer. He has designed her one that resembles the Ewok house's off of Star Wars. While their overall contraption may take several Summers to complete, we all headed to Lowe's and walked around checking on prices and discussing things like lighting in the tree house and what siding would work best. Lowe's is a great place to take curious kids if your not short on time, there are alot of things for them to see and ask questions about.

Dora also attended a Girl's Connect group at our church for about 2 hours just hanging out and talking with some of her church friends.

When she got home she joined Dad in watching some football before dinner.

Since today was National Popcorn Day, we made some sweet popcorn by adding Butterscotch Chips to it. And what better way to enjoy popcorn than with a movie so we also watched Disney's Planes. Bubba and Bret did actually venture out of there room and watch the movie with us!

This post was written as a part of the year long series "The Hitchhikers Guide to Unschooling." I strive to answer the question "What does your normal day look like?" by inviting you into my home and showing you how our Unschooling family lives as thought school does not exist!
