"Children do not need to learn to be better, told what to do or shown how. If they are given access to enough of the world, they will see clearly enough what things are truly important to themselves and to others, and they will make for themselves a better path into that world than anyone else could make for them." Today was Dad's scheduled day off which we always look forward to. He spent much of the day working on a few behind the scenes products for Unschooling Momma readers so look for those in the near future.
When Dora got up she shared with me a new app she had been playing called "Ruzzle". It is really fun if you like word games. It is a lot like boggle, you compete against other players and a two-minute timer to make the most words out of a scrambled word board, you can check it out and download it free HERE.
After breakfast Dora asked me for a dictionary because she said she had to look up the word "pickle". I found this quite confusing but after getting her one. I found out she had been working on this one person play! (Try to ignore our filming mistakes and the "extras" aka wild puppies in the background!)
She also came up with new costumes and ideas for her new series of these videos which she has titled "Unqualified" where she will be a person unqualified to do various jobs.
After watching her play Dad snatched up the wig and did a little rockin' on the drums!
Bubba and Bret continued to help Dora with her Yugioh and they all dueled each other for awhile. I joked with them their room looks like an unorganized card store and was amazed when they told me they knew what cards where what. I could point to one of the tins and Bubba could actually tell me what type of cards I would find inside! Bubba, Dora, and Bret also played "Ghost" and "Little Big Planet 2" on the Playstation together.
At lunch Dora and I told the boys about how scary the real "Cinderella" wa in the Brothers Grimm version and then I read aloud "Little Red Riding Hood' to see if it had any differences as well from the version we were used to and it did.
Dora spent along time in her room going through her things and some old family pictures. She began putting together this memory box of her life.
Everyone spent time keeping the puppies entertained and played with as they were extremly wild today!
All of the kids helped out with a few chores and we enjoyed playing games at our weekly "Family Game Night" which I will post more about later.
This post was written as a part of the year long series "Hitchhikersguidetounschooling" in which I share with you what a year in our Unschooling family looks like. New posts go up daily, most nights around 6 but depending on life may go up the morning after!
