"Children do not need to learn to be better, told what to do or shown how. If they are given access to enough of the world, they will see clearly enough what things are truly important to themselves and to others, and they will make for themselves a better path into that world than anyone else could make for them."               Genealogy Revelations Review and Giveaway

Not long ago my daughter, Dora (11) became interested in doing a family tree. Unfortunately, for her as she tried to trace back the generations I was not much help as I had barely met my great grandparents on my mother's side of the family and never met them on my dad's side. Needless to say when I saw that Genealogy Revelations was wanting reviewers for their site I jumped on it.

Genealogyrevelations.com is run by Anna Rae. The first thing you will notice about Anna Rae as you begin to work with her on your genealogy report is the passion she has for genealogy. I was told I would have two hours worth of research put into this project however come to find out she spent several more hours working to trace back even more generations for our family! As we started the process I sent her some very basic information like names of my parents and grandparents along with a few dates I knew and she was able to take this and trace back 13 generations on my father's side!

Within just a few weeks I received a well put together binder containing all of the information she had found. I love history so I really loved being able to look through the charts and learn the names of my ancestors and where they came from.  She traced back 13 generations and was able to show that my family came over from England which I had not known before. I was also able to see that the spelling of our last name had changed 3 times before becoming what it is today, which both my daughter and I found quite interesting. I am excited to now have a piece of family history that I can now hand down to my children!

The binder I received had 3 types of charts. The first was a pedigree, which shows our direct descendants and probably what most of you would think of when you hear about a genealogy report. The second was an Ahnentafel, is used to determine relationships. And last of all was the Descendant report that kind of ties everything together and counts from  the oldest generation (#1)  forward. These charts were easy to read and understand and gave my daughter a huge starting point to continue her research.

I do however have to add that even though I was happy with my report overall there were a few key mistakes that I had to change on my genealogy review: Anna Rae mistakenly put down my grandmother as deceased, when in fact she is still alive and well. She also had the day wrong on both my husband's birthday and our wedding anniversary.
