"Children do not need to learn to be better, told what to do or shown how. If they are given access to enough of the world, they will see clearly enough what things are truly important to themselves and to others, and they will make for themselves a better path into that world than anyone else could make for them." Today was our first day volunteering as a family at our church food bank. Thursdays are Dads day off and this proved to be the perfect opportunity as they were looking for helpers. The leaving the house before 8 proved too much for Bret and he didn't make it this time. However, Bubba, Dora, Dad and I did and for over 3 hours carried boxes, counted food, seperated fresh produce into smaller sized bags, and helped "customers" to the food bank by carrying their bags as well. It proved to be a great way for us to be thankful for what we do have and to meet new friends.

When we got home we had lunch and Dad wanted to go thrift store shopping. Dora and I were game but the boys decided to stay home and play some pool on their new game table.

Enough with the pictures already Mom! Glad to see that smile as he is definitely getting back to his old self!

After a few thrift stores, Dora was the only one that found anything. She was very proud of her Littlest Pet Shop house for only $2.

Since Dora had been gone for most of the week, I remembered to give her a letter that arrived from one of her penpals. She loved the picture and the bracelet! (Thanks, Jaymie!)

Dora showed me some more sign language she had learned with an app she had downloaded on her ipod as we drove around today. Bubba and Bret spent some time playing and looking through Yugioh cards as well as watching You Tube videos and playing Minecraft. The unofficial app of the week that seems to be getting lots of attention from all is "Flappy Bird."

That pretty much sums up our day thus far, as I write this the boys are chillin in their room, and Dora is being quite crafty having just finished finger knitting a scarf she is now painting a picture with acrylics.
